Wet Strength Resins
In the first step Diethylenetriamine is converted with a dicarboxylic acid (for example Adipic Acid) into a polyaminoamide. The polyaminoamide is subsequently cross-linked with Epichlorohydrin. The resin gives mechanical strength to the paper tissue under wet conditions and the absorbability of the paper is not affected.
The following Delamine Ethyleneamines are appropriate for use in Wet Strength Resins:
  • Diethylenetriamine
  • (DETA)
  • N-Aminoethylpiperazine
  • (N-AEP)
  • Triethylenetetramine
  • (TETA)
